viewThe wi-fi has been wonky again so this will be another late post.  I'll continue to write an end of the day synopsis and hope for the best with the wi-fi.  Here is yesterday's...

The goal today was relaxation and we achieved it handily.  We had a lovely breakfast out on the terrace overlooking vineyards and olive trees then moseyed on down to the pool.  My mom nicely offered to watch the kids for a few hours so Jeff and I snuck off for a lunch date.  We enjoyed a very leisurely meal with local wine, prosciutto and pasta.  The pasta tasted so obviously homemade and fresh and was amazingly delicious.  It somehow 'bit' back at you if that makes any sense - the texture was perfect and the homemade pesto of arugula and walnuts was divine.  We left and meandered home on the back roads and just enjoyed the view and company.  (The picture is actually the view from the pool at our place!)

We returned to find my mom and the kids busily working on a jigsaw puzzle but they quickly hopped into their bathing suits to get in a few more hours of pool time.  The temperature today seemed hotter than the last few days so the pool was a welcome relief.  In fact, much to the surprise of my kids I actually got in it!  (I fully admit to being a cold water wimp and it takes extreme circumstances for me to get in a pool.  Okay okay, it felt pretty good… and they didn't even dunk me or anything!)  We soaked up a lot of vitamin D today and we're all feeling that nice after-sun relaxing glow.

grapesDinner was in tiny San Donato in a beautiful rooftop restaurant.  Our solid-slab marble table (how did they move it there?) was underneath a canopy of grape vines and there were large bunches of grapes hanging over our table.  Talk about ambiance!  Gelato finished off the night and both my mom and I made unfortunate choices.  I chose one called "Gusto di Italia" which looked interesting but tasted like Black Forest cake.  I despise Black Forest Cake.  I know, it looks pretty but it's just not my thing.  Mom chose Nutella and we think she actually got frozen Nutella, not Nutella flavored gelato.  It looked and tasted just like it and was very thick and sweet.  It was insane and most of it ended up in a garbage can.  Who can eat a giant cone of frozen Nutella?  Crazy people.

We never did go for the walk we wanted to so perhaps tomorrow is the day.  The pool beckons strongly and it's hard to resist so we'll just have to play it by ear.  Another relaxing day… doesn't do much for travel blogging but it's certainly good for the soul!
